Programme Activities
In order to help strengthen national capacity in the collection, analysis and dissemination of food security information, Programme activities will:

Make sure the quarterly bulletin "Food Security Situation Trends in Figures" meets policy makers' information needs by improving its statistical analysis, content, presentation and dissemination. |

It will improve the Agricultural Survey System by providing methodological guidelines for the development of a sound system for the production of reliable agricultural statistics. It will also develop a food security questionnaire and include it in the on-going agricultural sample survey. |
|
Train staff from the Department of Statistics in using basic tools for statistical analysis of food security data. |
|
Provide training in the analysis of household budget surveys to better determine the extent of under-nourishment. |
|
Review the methodology and results of the Household Budget Survey, Food Consumption Survey 2000/01 and the Multi- Indicator Cluster Survey to make sure results are consistent and complementary rather than conflicting. |
