EC-FAO Food Security Programme and the Integrated Phase Classification System Exhibits at the CFS Conference
The EC-FAO Food Security Programme had a stand at the recent Committee on World Food Security Conference held in Rome. Policy briefs and other programme publications were distributed and demonstrations were given on the use of Programme tools such as:
- CountrySTAT
- The GIEWS Workstation
- The Food Security Distance Learning Module
The first distance learning unit "Reporting Food Security Information" was officially launched during the CFS.
Another stand was dedicated to the "Integrated Humanitarian and Food Security Phase Classification System" (IPC) whose further development is being supported by the Programme.
About the IPC
The IPC is a standardized scale that integrates food security, nutrition and livelihood information into a clear statement about the severity of a crisis and implications for humanitarian response.
It builds upon internationally accepted standards and classifications to support a holistic evidence based approach to situation analysis.
