Assessment of Early Warning Systems on Food Security in Southern Africa

Purpose

To obtain a clear understanding of the efficiency and effectiveness of existing food security early warning systems in Southern Africa in order to improve food availability and access, as well as to ensure adequate nutritional quality.

Outputs

- a critical assessment of major early warning system activities on food security in Southern Africa; and

- recommendations with different alternatives (technical, institutional, financial) for enhancing the early warning capacity of Southern African nations and associated regional organisations.
