Purpose

Promotion of food security through improved grain storage

Outputs

1.A detailed study of existing storage facilities in Mozambique at all levels in the cereals marketing chain.

2. Recommendations for policymakers on:

- the desirability of promoting on-farm and community level storage and achieving this in a profitable and sustainable way;

- steps for divestingt or renting Mozambique Cereals Institute (ICM) storage assets;

- steps to be taken to facilitate private sector investment in storage;

- ways of developing knowledge of rural grain storage strategies; and

- ways of addressing capital constraints for construction and stockholding.
