EC FAO Food Security Programmes
Sudan Institutional Capacity Programme: Food Security Information for Action (SIFSIA)
SIFSIA is expected to contribute to food security by strengthening human, physical and organizational capacities in the generation and utilization of information for the analysis, design, monitoring and evaluation of food security related policies and programmes. The Programme features:

a food security policy and planning making systems component which includes support for establishing a Food Security Council; |

a baselines and information systems component, including several surveys and information systems related to agriculture, livestock and natural resources; and |
|
a food security research and capacity building fund to support small scale community based interventions in food insecure areas. |
Sudan Productive Capacity Recovery Programme
The Sudan Productive Capacity Recovery Programme aims at improving livelihoods of rural households located in Sudan's most vulnerable conflict and drought affected areas by building their productive capacity. It is designed to intervene essentially at the State and locality level through two main components:

Capacity Building, in order to build the human, organizational and physical capacity of public and private institutions related to food security. |
|
Support to Rural Livelihoods through financing and implementing investment projects in the selected States and counties / localities. This will include 8 major model investment projects and a Micro-project programme to support community-based initiatives. |
National Programme for Food Security (NPFS)
FAO is assisting in the formulation of comprehensive National Programmes for Food Security (NPFS) in North and South Sudan.
Early rehabilitation and enhancement of the small-scale fisheries in southern Sudan
The overall objective of the project is to provide the means and skills required to enable fishing communities to improve their food security situation by exploiting renewable and under-exploited Nile River fish resources.

Post-Conflict Community Recovery and Rehabilitation Programme (UNDP)
A €50 million programme implemented by UNDP with the following objectives:

to ‘quick start’ agricultural and rural development interventions, implemented by NGO's and other non-state actors |

to reduce the prevalence and severity of poverty and increase food security amongst conflict affected rural households |

Other Food Security Programmes
Multi Donor Trust Fund (MDTF)
The MDTF has a current pipeline of about US$ 326.4 million. It is expected to finance projects aimed at improving household food security and reducing poverty; it will also support integrated food security and vulnerability information systems.
The USAID Southern Sudan Agriculture Revitalization Project
The five year, $22.5 million project aims at increasing the capacity for agriculture production and marketing through the organization of marketing cooperatives.
