Background
Coordination and networking among stakeholders working in Food Security and Nutrition (FSN) in Cambodia has considerably improved in the last years with the establishment of:
To support these on-going initiatives, a one day workshop will be held on 5 July 2006 at the Sunway Hotel in Phnom Penh. The workshop will support the Technical Working Group on FSN by improving strategy making and food security interventions.
Organization
The workshop is jointly organized by the Council of Agricultural and Rural Development (CARD), the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries (MAFF) and the National Institute of Statistics (NIS), with support from FAO.
Aims and Objectives
The workshop seeks to:

better respond to stakeholders’ information needs; and |
|
improve coordination among initiatives aimed at strengthening food security and nutrition information management in Cambodia. |
These initiatives include:
|
activities supported under the Food Insecurity and Vulnerability Information and Mapping Systems Initiative (FIVIMS) in the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries; |
|
WFP's Food Security Atlas project; |
|
CARD's CARD's Food Security and Nutrition System (FSNIS); and |
|
Cam-Info, an indicator database and information presentation tool containing indicators relevant to Food Security and Nutrition and data from the National Institute of Statistics. |
Workshop Objectives include:

Presenting and discussing on-going and planned initiatives regarding FSN/vulnerability related information management; |
|
Specifying the need for improved information on FSN and vulnerability; and |
|
Identifying areas for improved coordination and cooperation among various information systems. |
