The country briefs pool together valuable data from national and international sources and cover:
cereal and livestock prices |
vegetation conditions |
government policies affecting food security |
recent natural disasters, drought and conflicts affecting food security |
a synthesis of food security classifications and indexes from FAO, WFP, IFPRI, and FEWSNET |
current news events related to food security |
The country briefs were prepared by the EC- FAO Food Security Information for Decision Making Programme. They provide up-to-date information on 30 of the 50 priority countries of the European Commission’s Food Security Thematic Program (FSTP).
The European Commission’s FSTP aims at addressing the structural causes of food insecurity by placing agriculture at the heart of the international debate on development.
The EC- FAO Food Security Information for Decision Making Programme is funded by the European Union and implemented by FAO. It aims at improving the quantity and quality of food security information and analysis; and promoting its use in decision making at all levels.
