Food demand Equations: Estimation of key parameters of demand functions for main staple cereals to provide improved estimates of effective demand and commercial imports for FAO/WFP Crop and Food Supply Assessments

Purpose

To help apply the recently revised CFSAM methodology to estimate the effective food demand and commercial food imports used in the Joint FAO/WFP CFSAMs.

Outputs

- Paper outlining the research results for two countries
- Simulated results of effective demand and import estimates in previous CFSAMs using the new parameter estimates.
- Recommendations on practical steps for future CFSAMs in rapid assessment situations
