Development of inland fisheries and aquaculture in the Kyrgyz Republic to reduce rural food insecurity

Support the eradication of food insecurity in rural areas of the Kyrgyz Republic through by promoting sustainable inland fisheries and aquaculture among vulnerable rural populations.

Sorties

1. A review study of the current status of inland fisheries and aquaculture in the Kyrgyz Republic.

2.A report based on a national workshop on fisheries and aquaculture in the Kyrgyz Republic on "the status of and prospects for increasing the contribution of the sector to food security in rural areas."

3. Two reports from national workshops regarding the “Formulation of a Fisheries and Aquaculture Sector Development and Management Strategy”.

4. A final draft of the above document (ready for approval by the Minister) and a draft implementation programme.

5. A campaign, including promotional materials, to increase fish consumption and improve fish marketing.

6. A project proposal to support the implementation of the Strategy.
