Improving Food Security Information and Statistical Analysis
Experts from the Government Statistics Service (Goskomstat), with support from FAO's Statistics Division, have been analysing and validating food consumption and income data from the 2005 Tajikistan Household Budget Survey (HBS).
A paper based on the analysis called “Longitudinal analysis using panel data for assessing seasonality effects on the food security situation in Tajikistan 2005 HBS” was presented at the EC-FAO Food Security Programme's full day event at the Fourth International Conference on Agriculture Statistics (ICAS-4) in Beijing, China.
In addition, in May 2007, staff from the Goskomstat's Agriculture Unit received training in compiling food balance sheets. Food balance sheets give a comprehensive picture of a country's food supply during a specified period.
