Market information analysis and presentation training for the Market Information Center staff

Résumé

The Market Information Analysis and Presentation Training was organized under the “EC/FAO Programme on information systems to improve food security decision-making in the European Neighborhood Policy (ENP) East Area”. The training was delivered to the staff of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAFI) Marketing and International Relations Department, including the Market Information Center (MIC), between March and June 2012 by a national consultant.

The training consisted of three basic modules: economics, statistics and forecasting. It was delivered through formal group sessions and individual (on the job) sessions. The training was based on a prior assessment of the competency of MIC staff in information analysis and presentation. Besides, the training sessions were tailored according to the priority areas and measurement indicators identified by MAFI as part of the agricultural development strategy for 2011 – 2015.

The training has developed MIC staff skills in using modern statistical methods and tools in preparation and presentation of analytical reports, according to the elaborated standards.

Objectifs

The objective of the training was to improve the skills of the MIC team within the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry in better interpreting market and other relevant information for agricultural policy analysis and planning.
