Improving Food Balance Sheets (FBS) in Azerbaijan

Résumé

The workshop was jointly organized by the State Statistical Committee and the Programme.

The overall objective of the workshop was to review and discuss the FAO Statistician's and International Consultant's mission (16–20 May) findings and proposals for improving FBS in Azerbaijan.The workshop brought together producers and users of information in order to build dialogue and strengthen the relevance of the information presented in FBS for users.  

The conclusions of the mission were discussed and recommendations for follow-up assistance under the Programme agreed recommendations as follow:

  • Finalize an in-depth review of the methods, techniques and surveys which are used to generate FBS data.
  • Organize a Study Tour to Lithuania for staff of SSC and user organizations.
  • Develop an interactive module for FBS as part of the planned SSC interactive website.
  • Provide on-the-job support after the Study Tour to implement identified solutions.
  • Ensure regular consultations between FBS producers and users.
  • Strengthen FAO and SSC collaboration and harmonize their respective FBS.

The workshop was attended by 20 participants from the State Statistical Committee, Ministry of Agriculture, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Health and FAO.
