Identifying Private Sector Sponsorship for Market Information Dissemination in Cambodia
With the EC‐FAO Food Security Programme in the Greater Mekong Sub-Region coming to an end in 2012, and to reduce the dependency of Cambodia’s Agricultural Market Information System (AMIS) on short‐term donor‐funded projects, there is a need to seek funding opportunities from the private sector to sustain the dissemination of market information currently supported by the project. The purpose of this national consultancy was to identify potential sponsors for market information dissemination by arranging meetings with senior management in selected companies, by providing them with background information about the AMIS and to seek their interest in sponsoring AMIS information dissemination. Current means of dissemination include radio broadcasts, SMS announcements, bulletins, and over the Internet. Following these meetings, the consultant helped identify opportunities for private sponsorship, and proposed an action plan to sustain the AMIS project.
