, Africa - Southern, Mozambique

Summary

The training course was jointly organized by SETSAN (Technical Secretariat for Food Security and Nutrition in Mozambique) and the EC-FAO Food Security “Information for Action” Programme, the SETSAN Project, and support from the FAO-FIVIMS Secretariat. The training provided food security analysts with the necessary skills and knowledge to produce more relevant, credible and accessible food security information products (FSIPs) that support decision-making.

Twenty six participants from SETSAN, the National Institute for Disaster Management (INGC), the National Institute for Social Action (INAS), the Ministry of Industry and Commerce (MIC) (INGC) and Save the Children successfully completed this 5-day training course. Participants were all directly involved in the preparation of food security information products (reports, web releases, website) at central and provincial levels (10 participants from provinces).

The major output of the training was a Plan of Action for increasing the use and impact of SETSAN food security information products analyzed during the training on decision-making. These products included the "InfoFlash", provincial reports, websites, a journal and press releases.
