Workshop report : Tajikistan Agricultural Market Information System (TAMIS)

Round table discussion June 2012
6 Jun 2012, Asia - Central, Tajikistan

Currently, several organisations in Tajikistan are collecting data in the field of agricultural market information. Each of them uses different methods and approaches for data collection and analysis. While this exercise creates alternative sources of information and products for different users, it also leads to the problems of information use. The low level of coordination and collaboration leads to duplicative information products and limited information sharing among stakeholders. Access to timely information and disaggregated data for analysis is another constraint. Thus, there is a need of close collaboration among all stakeholders for provision of improved information products. A round table discussion was held to discuss constarints and solutions.

The “Improved Global Governance for Hunger Reduction” programme is funded by the European Union with additional resources provided by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). The programme is managed by FAO and collaborates with the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) and the World Food Programme (WFP)”
