- Food prices increased by 4.4% between December 2011 and March 2012. Potato price increased by 15%, bread and beef prices remained about stable.
- The production of wheat, potato and fruits is expected to be higher in 2012 than in 2011, due to favorable climatic conditions and adequate methods of production.
- The economy of the country is slowly recovering from 2009 deep recession, with an expected positive impact on food security and poverty in 2011.
- Cereal imports during the first three months of 2012 amounted to 101 thousand tonnes, a level similar to 2007–2011 average for the first quarter of the year.
