Food Balance Sheet Indicators – Armenia

The Food Balance Sheet (FBS) provides a comprehensive picture of the country’s situation of food supply and utilization during a specified period. FBS are important tools for planners and economists concerned with the preparation of development plans in the food and agriculture sector. The following links give access to the FBS published in the Food Security and Poverty Bulletin which is issued on an annual and quarterly basis by the National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia (NSS):

The activities of the EC/FAO Programme have contributed to the harmonization of the FBS produced by NSS and the FBS produced by FAO. Armenia’s Food Balance Sheet may however differ from the figures published by FAO. While in principle Armenia NSS and FAO use the same methodology to compile FBS, differences in the final results can be explained by a number of factors which are detailed in the following note:
