European Union (EU)

  • Assistance to the Ministry of Agriculture for developing a Food Safety Strategy (food safety, sanitary and phytosanitary measures).
  • Assistance with the agricultural census through the Strengthening of the National Statistical System project (six EU member states are equal partners, duration: 2011–2013).

 

Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO)
Technical assistance in animal health, food safety, pesticide control, afforestation and reforestation, seed production and agricultural information through national and regional projects.

 

International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD)
Support to enterprises run by subsistence farmers, the landless and the unemployed and poor rural women through the Farmer Market Access Programme (duration: 2008–2013, total budget: US$32.1 million).

 

Millennium Challenge Corporation, United States of America (MCC)
Investments in rural roads and irrigation infrastructure, and support to farmers and agro-businesses (duration: 2007–2011, total cost: US$180 million).

 

United States Department of Agriculture (USDA)
Support to the National Statistical Service (NSS) to upgrade agricultural statistics and in preparing the agricultural census (annual budget: US$200 000).

 

World Bank
Assistance to farmers and rural entrepreneurs to improve access to markets and promote market-oriented investments in rural areas through the Rural Enterprise and Small-scale Commercial Agriculture Development Project (from February 2009, total cost: US$2.1 million).
